iPhone & iPad
On iPhone and iPad, you install from Safari using Add to Home Screen. It takes about 20 seconds.
- Open track.optimizehealth.ca in Safari.
- Tap the Share button — the square with an upward arrow — in the toolbar.
- Scroll down the share sheet and tap Add to Home Screen, then tap Add.
- Tap the new Optimize icon on your Home Screen. It opens fullscreen, with no browser bar.
Must be Safari
On iOS, Add to Home Screen only shows up in Safari — not in Chrome, not in an in-app browser (the one that opens inside Instagram, Messages, etc.). If you don't see it, open the link directly in Safari first. See troubleshooting.
Android
On Android it's even easier — Chrome and Edge both install PWAs directly, and often offer to do it for you.
- Open track.optimizehealth.ca in Chrome or Edge.
- Tap the ⋮ menu in the top-right corner.
- Choose Install app (Chrome) or Add to phone (Edge). You may also see an install banner slide up on its own — tap that instead.
- Confirm. Optimize lands in your app drawer and Home Screen and launches fullscreen.
Desktop
Optimize installs on desktop too, into its own window with no tabs or address bar.
- Open track.optimizehealth.ca in Chrome or Edge.
- Click the install icon in the address bar — a small monitor with a downward arrow — or open the ⋮ menu and choose Install Optimize / Apps → Install this site as an app.
- Confirm. Optimize opens in its own window and pins to your taskbar, dock, or launcher.
Safari on Mac
Safari on macOS can add Optimize to the Dock via File → Add to Dock. For the fullest desktop experience, Chrome or Edge is smoothest.
Troubleshooting
No "Add to Home Screen"
You're not in Safari. Close the in-app or third-party browser, open track.optimizehealth.ca in Safari directly, and use the Share menu. Private Browsing can also hide the option — switch to a normal tab.
No "Install app"
Make sure you're in Chrome or Edge (not a lightweight in-app browser). Reload the page; the install option appears once the page has fully loaded.
Already installed?
If the install option is missing, you may already have it. Check your Home Screen or app drawer for the Optimize icon before trying again.
No install icon
The address-bar install icon only shows in Chromium browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave). In Firefox, bookmark the site — full PWA install isn't supported there.
Why a PWA, not an App Store app
A Progressive Web App installs in one tap, updates instantly with no download, uses almost no storage, and behaves identically on iPhone, Android and desktop from a single codebase. That last part is a big reason Optimize can stay free — there's no separate native app to build and maintain three times over.
You still get everything that matters: a Home Screen icon, a fullscreen app with no browser chrome, offline loading, and a normal "remove from Home Screen" if you ever want it gone. No APK, no sideloading, no store review queue between you and the latest version.

Is there an App Store / Google Play app?
Not yet — and you don't need one. Installing the PWA from your browser gives you a real app icon that launches fullscreen and works offline, without an app store.
Is installing a PWA safe?
Yes. It's the website saved to your Home Screen, running in the browser's sandbox. No special permissions to install, no APK, and you can remove it like any other icon.
Does it work offline?
The app shell is cached so it loads without a connection. Logging new data needs a connection because your data lives securely server-side.
Will it update itself?
Yes — a PWA updates automatically in the background. You always have the latest version with nothing to download.
